On this week’s list is a paperback edition by Rebecca Solnit Orwell’s Rosesnew research on politics and gardening the California Book Club author in September 2021. Solnit examines George Orwell’s life in a new light, from his little-known journey in the coal mines of England to his contribution to agriculture. The passengerby Cormac McCarthy, reviewed by Alta, is an exciting new addition to the list. The novel — the first of two related books — follows Bobby Western as he investigates a plane crash and investigates a possible government cover-up.
