The BJP has won Gola Gokrannath in Uttar Pradesh, Adampur in Haryana and is leading in Dhamnagar in Odisha. The party also retained Bihar’s Gopalganj assembly seat, which is in the home district of party leader and former chief minister Lalu Yadav, father of deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav.
The RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal), meanwhile, has won the Mokama assembly seat by more than 16,000 votes.
In Telangana, K Chandrashekar’s Rao’s Telangana Rashtriya Samithi is leading in Munugode and the Shiv Sena faction led by Uddhav Thackeray is poised to win the Andheri East seat in Mumbai.
While the results are likely to upset the maths of the current state governments, the contests are seen as a battle for family legacy in Haryana and prestige battles in Telangana, Bihar and Maharashtra.
With regional parties making a united front for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, just a year and a half away, the poll results could serve as perception boosters or destroyers, depending on the results.
The fierce battle is between the Bharatiya Janata Party and regional parties such as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

BJP candidate Suryabanshi Suraj extended his lead to 4,845 votes over his BJD rival Abanti Das for the Dhamnagar bypoll in Odisha’s Bhadrak district, Election Commission (EC) trends revealed on Sunday . According to the EC, Suraj got 45,321 votes after the 10th round of counting, while Das got 40,476.
BJP’s Bhavya Bishnoi defeated Congress veteran Jai Prakash by over 16,000 votes. The BJP’s victory in Adampur comes after electoral losses in two consecutive polls in Haryana.
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader has expressed his indignation over the delay in announcing the counting of votes for the Munugode polls which began on Sunday morning.
TRS Power Department Minister G Jagdish Reddy expressed his outrage over the delay in declaring the results of the Munugode bypoll election count.
The minister complained about the delay and asked the officials to announce the results after each round of counting.
Bihar Elections: BJP wins a close contest in Gopalganj
BJP has won Gopalganj assembly seat.

After nine rounds of counting in Haryana’s Adampur bypoll, BJP’s Bhavya Bishnoi is leading with a margin of over 17,000 votes. Jai Prakash of the Congress, the nearest rival, is ahead by a significant margin. The Adampur assembly poll will decide whether the Bhajan Lal family retains its five-decade stronghold.

Rutuja Latke, the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) candidate, has established a huge lead in the Andheri (East) assembly seat in Mumbai. He faces seven independent candidates.
The only surprise in the results is that the NOTA or None of the above option got more votes than the other six candidates in the contest.
RJD candidate Neelam Devi contested the Mokama polls after the seat fell vacant following the disqualification of her husband Anant Singh in a corruption case. He defeated BJP’s Sonam Devi by over 16,000 votes.
BJP candidate Aman Giri has taken a comfortable lead of around 28,000 votes over his nearest rival as the counting of votes continued in the Gola Gokarannath assembly polls on Sunday. While Mr. Giri has secured 73,371 votes so far, Samajwadi Party’s Vinay Tiwari has secured 48,739 votes, officials said after the 18th round of counting.
BJP candidate Aman Giri has taken a comfortable lead of more than 10,000 over his nearest rival as the vote count advanced in Sunday’s Gola Gokarannath assembly polls. While Giri got 36,528 votes so far, Samajwadi Party’s Vinay Tiwari got 25,621 votes, officials said.
After the third round, BJP’s Bhavya Bishnoi is leading with a margin of over 6,000 votes.

The TRS is ahead of its rival BJP by more than 1,000 seats in Munugode after the fourth round. Here the Congress MLA had resigned and is now fighting on the BJP ticket.

After nine rounds, the BJP is leading by 2,000 votes in Gopalganj. Meanwhile, the RJD is leading by more than 6,000 votes in Mokama after six rounds.
Shiv Sena (Uddhav) candidate Rutuja Latke is leading in Andheri (East) after the first round. Rutuja Latke is the widow of former Sena MP from Andheri (East), who died after a heart attack in May 2022 in Dubai.
RJD candidate Neelam Devi, wife of Anant Singh, who was disqualified after being convicted of possessing illegal arms, is leading in Mokama.

Haryana BJP leader Kuldeep Bishnoi said he was confident of winning the elections. His son Bhavya Bishnoi is looking forward to carrying forward the family legacy in Admapur. The polls were necessitated after his father Kuldeep Bishnoi, who led the family in the BJP, resigned as MLA from Adampur when he defected.

“This poll was not about winning or losing, but about the margin of victory. With the blessings I have received from my Adampur family since the beginning, I am sure that people will be celebrating Diwali again in a few hours: Bhavya Bishnoi, the BJP candidate for Adampur election said.
Counting of votes begins for elections to seven assembly seats in six states.
Elections 2022: Adampur elections witnessed 75% voter turnout
Admapur, the family seat of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal, will decide whether his grandson Bhavya Bishnoi can carry forward the 68-year-old legacy after switching from the Congress to the BJP. Bhavya’s father Kuldeep Bishnoi, who led the family to the BJP, resigned as MLA from Adampur when he defected, leading to this vote. More than 75% of voters exercised their rights in the elections. Counting will be done in 13 rounds.
In Gopalganj, the RJD hopes to oust the BJP that has held it for nearly two decades. He has pitted Mohan Prasad Gupta, among the party’s senior cadres, against the BJP’s Kusum Devi, whose husband Subhas Singh died in the election.
Bihar is seeing the first contest – on two seats – since Nitish Kumar quit the BJP and joined hands with Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD. In Mokama, the RJD candidate was Neelam Devi, wife of Anant Singh, a strongman politician disqualified after being convicted of illegally possessing arms.
Election Results 2022: Among the seven seats that witnessed a tough contest between the BJP and regional parties, the BJP held three and the Congress two, while the Shiv Sena and the RJD had one each.
Counting begins at 8 am and results are usually expected by noon.
