Friends, zombies, countrymen, lend your ears! I came to bury The Walking Dead, will not praise him. I’m not into trash talk either, to be honest. But it is important to note that the zombified version TWD who has been on television for years, his skull is crushed and his brain is crushed. You know, metaphorically speaking.

I have very little to say about “Rest in Peace,” considering it’s a great episode to close out season 11 of the most popular show on old television. Everything is the season said to lead to, that is, the war with the Commonwealth, is completely void; the scene in the story is like a shame. Despite being shot, Judith is fine. Mercer was captured but was soon rescued and is safe. Even though everyone was trapped in the middle of Commonwealth Street with a bunch of zombies, they were fine. Rosita found her son, who was fine, but was bitten on the way and refused to tell anyone to lighten the story.

Toppling Governor Pam Milton is an easier matter. He hides out in his gated community with his legion of loyalists, all of whom stare at the giant gate that begs to be let in on low incomes lest they be eaten by zombies that enter it. the city. There was plenty of room inside and plenty of time for everyone to get in safely, but Pam was somehow evil enough to just stare at them. That is, until everyone involved, Daryl gives an emotional speech (“They deserve better than this. We’re not the ones who died.”) That’s exactly it what the Commontroopers should have listened to in order not to disobey Pam and not watch dozens of her friends and neighbors eaten alive. People are allowed in, Pam is arrested, and Pam thinks really It’s hard for Hornsby to let himself be eaten by a passing zombie, but Maggie saves him so he can rot in prison.

So, in the end, all the Commonwealth needed to do was arrest a mean old woman, and she did. As action-packed series finales go, it’s not much The Walking Dead Gussies do a really crazy sequence where they pull all the zombies into a gated community, fill it with tanks, and arrange for Wile E. Coyote-esque actors to burn the place down after the “Cult” is over playing of Personality” by Living Color. The resulting explosion looks like a cut-scene from a PlayStation 2 game.

If I invested money myself The Walking DeadI think I would have been disappointed with how the Commonwealth story ended, especially since the only main character who bought it was Rosita (no, Luke doesn’t count, and shame on her. TWD but pretending to be). The ending felt bloodless, which is a strange thing to say about a show that revels in the misery it can inflict on its characters. Maybe it makes sense for the show to end with our Heroes defeating the villains in some way other than using incredible violence, but it just doesn’t make sense—it’s too easy.

The second half of “Rest in Peace” is a long epilogue that I can best summarize as “The Walking Dead our friends on the road.” It works better, mainly because we’ve spent over a decade watching these characters. When The Walking Dead To begin with, what set it apart from other zombie exploits was that its story continued after a zombie movie ended. Seeing these characters finally come to that end — or seeing them survive to the end — makes sense in itself, even if the ending is a bit bleak. But how nice was it to hear Negan tell Maggie that he knew exactly what he took from her, and blame her? Or for Carol and Daryl to tell each other in a platonic way that they love each other? Or to see Rick and Michonne for once, because that’s all people still want to watch the show for, anyway?

Yes, Rick and Michonne are back The Walking Dead for the big post-credits scene had to stick before the credits. They appear separately and Rick puts away the diary, shoes and iPhone that Michonne later finds “Who We Have Become”, while Michonne is shown reading it in the present / future / at some point in the future. Rick is inexplicably barefoot, wearing a CRM jacket (the bad guys from there The World Beyond spin-off, apparently), and uses a weird zombie-trepanning trident. It seems that he was on the run, when a helicopter chased him, someone shouted “you have been found and told to surrender.” Stay in place with your hands up.”

Even though I’ve had enough of my life watching The Walking Dead but need to look at Rick and Michonne miniseries In order to feel at peace, I have no questions or interest in speculating about what is going on with Rick. But I’m very interested to learn where Michonne got some samurai armor for herself and a horse, and why she decided it was a good idea to jump into a horde of thousands of zombies with his sword drawn. It’s clean walking Dead pointless, in its own way, and I appreciated the hell out of it – but it also saddened me to realize that the best and most entertaining moment of the entire finale was a trailer for another show.

And that’s what I believe. I’ll have more thoughts later on spending a full decade of my life giving back The Walking Dead for io9, but as for the finale—the final episode of a show that ran for 11 seasons, 177 episodes, 12 years, and at one point was the series’ most popular on television—I don’t have any more. thoughts, various or otherwise.

The Walking Dead then died. Anyway, that seems to be all that needs to be said.
